Since 1977 when Dr. James A. Murphy began practicing in St. Joseph, Missouri, we have been providing patients with personalized and attentive eye care. At Murphy-Watson-Burr Eye Center, it is our professional commitment and each staff member’s personal goal to see that you and your family receive quality care in a pleasant and efficient atmosphere. Murphy-Watson-Burr Eye Center has 2 offices in Northwest Missouri staffed by 3 board-certified ophthalmologists (medical doctors who perform eye surgery) and 4 board-certified doctors of optometry (eye doctors who specialize in prescribing glasses and contact lenses and who also treat many medical eye conditions).
We have a staff of more than 50 support personnel, many of whom have been employed for more than 20 years and have achieved specialty certification in assisting eye physicians. We are proud that most of our new patients come to us by referral from other physicians in the community and current patients of the practice. We realize that you have many options for eye care in Northwest Missouri. Thank you for choosing Murphy-Watson-Burr Eye Center.
Murphy-Watson-Burr Eye Center offers total family eye care ranging from comprehensive eye exams for all ages to advanced no-stitch cataract and LASIK surgery. We treat everyone from infants to adults, offering quality eye care and patient-focused service.
You will be using your new eyesight every waking moment for the rest of your life. Please take as much time as needed to consult with us as well as your family. Our surgeons, technicians and coordinators are available to help you make the best decision.
Things to think about before cataract surgery:
The Light Adjustable Lens™ (LAL®) is the first and only lens that can be customized after cataract surgery—because we believe your vision should be exactly what you want. Now you can experience your vision, then refine it. So your vision will truly be yours.
With other lenses, you have to make a lot of decisions about the vision you want before your cataract surgery. Once implanted, those lenses can’t be changed; they’re what’s known as “fixed.”
The Light Adjustable Lens, however, is an adjustable lens. This means that the only decision you have to make before your surgery is to choose the Light Adjustable Lens. The rest can be made after your surgery once your eye has healed.
You and your surgeon then have the ability to adjust the lens and optimize your vision based on your unique preferences and lifestyle requirements. So you will truly have vision that’s just for you.
